The Lakeside at Thorburn

Business of the Year – 2014.

The Lakeside at Thorburn first opened in January 2010 when the owners Maxine and Neil Dawe and their family purchased Tucker’s Resort.  The business is located on the Trans Canada Highway at Thorburn Lade about 20 kms West of Clarenville.

The business thrives on catering to families year-round.  There are 106 campsites nestled in both wooded and open areas.  During the summer there are many amenities offered, which include:

Ø  Two playground areas

Ø  A 200 foot sandy beach

Ø  A cookhouse on the beach with a fire pit

Ø  2 enclosed swimming pools

Ø  An outdoor hot tub

Ø  An 8 passenger jet boat

Ø  Go-karts, pedal boats, a land train, and

Ø  A 10 room motel and a twelve-bunk loft.

Ø  A take-out or eat in restaurant

During special occasions there are themed weekends where campers are encouraged to do things such as decorate their sites, and take part in sports tournaments. Children can also participate in craft days, scavenger hunts, and other organized outdoor fun that is always included with their stay. Guests are also treated with things such as fireworks and campfires.

During the winter the park offers snowmobile rentals and guided tours which include a boil-up on the trail          or a stopover at the Trailside Restaurant.  During the Town of Clarenville’s winter festival, The Lakeside hosts an ice fishing derby, sliding, skating and snowmobile rides.  During the Town of Clarenville’s summer festival, the Park offers a Family Fun Day.

Maxine and Neil are always looking for new and exciting activities to offer the customers.  They are working on an animal museum and more water attractions for the near future
