Diversions Entertainment Inc. was formed in 2004 by Lee and Sherry Warren as a Cyber Café and Game Centre and has evolved over the years to become a successful full-service technology company.
From 2004 to 2006, Diversions Cyber Café served coffee and treats to clients looking for Internet access in the community and an entertainment experience for those looking for a “diversion”. With 8 computers, a big screen console lounge, and six TV console stations Diversions was the place to for gaming in the Clarenville area. It was common to drop by in the evenings and on weekends and see a packed house of kids and young adults engrossed in multi-player competitions.
In 2007, Diversions Computer Centre was established with an initial focus on retail computer and component sales which operated initially along with the game centre and café. Later that year, Diversions stopped operating as a game centre and focused entirely on computer sales and service. Lee then joined the business as a fulltime owner/operator.
Their initial focus on computer retail and in-store PC repair services was successful. Diversions Computer Centre provided PC computer builds, PC components, software, and accessory sales. They provided in store PC repairs to residential customers, but there was also significant demand for commercial service to businesses throughout the Clarenville area. As the demand for those services increased, Lee had to hire a full-time retail/technical person to look after the store while he attended to on-site calls.
In 2009 their first service contract was signed with a local not-for-profit looking for regular maintenance on their server and computer workstations. As a bid contract, Lee realized that there were many other business clients that would appreciate having regular maintenance and outsourced IT as managed services. The advantage of the pro-active relationship is that it focuses on the infrastructure health versus fixing problems as they occur. By 2011 they added four more service contract clients and today have more than a dozen managed services relationships with local business. From 2007 through to 2014, Diversions has experienced substantial year on year growth in gross sales primarily influenced by increases in commercial service, national contracts, and managed services.
