Mills Pittman and Twyne law firm was established in 1972 when Corwin Mills, Q.C. opened a practice in his home town of Clarenville. The firm expanded with the addition of Wayne Dymond, Q.C., who later became a Supreme Court Justice, and Arnold Hussey, Q.C.. Gregory Pittman, Q.C. joined the firm as an associate in 1992. Joseph Twyne joined the firm in 2004 and became a partner in 2013. The firm continued to grow and now has 18 staff including 5 lawyers. It is one of the largest regional law firms in the province outside of St. John’s.

Most of the firm’s employees are long term employees with vast experience in all areas of law. The firm regularly get compliments about the friendliness and competence of its staff.

The firm continues to emphasize productivity and quality, and quickly adopts the latest in technology, including computer and internet legal research, and on-line registration of deeds and mortgages. The firm has embraced social media and has one of the largest social media followings of any law firm in the province.

The client base has expanded over the years from the Clarenville area to the entire province, with many repeat clients. Customer service is evident by the firm’s growth and the fact it has been in business for 47 years.

The firm is a recognized leader in real estate, fisheries and commercial law. It is a full-service firm with vast experience in other areas such as personal injury, criminal law, family law and municipal law.

The firm’s offices were renovated to make it age friendly. It has clients of all ages, and the lawyers regularly make visits to people’s homes, long term care facilities and hospitals to meet with seniors. The firm has had an information booth in the Random Age Friendly Senior’s Fair since its inception.

Mills, Pittman and Twyne has been recognized as a leader in community service and involvement. Corwin Mills, Q.C. received the Distinguished Public Service Award from the law society for his public service. He, along with his wife, was also named a Patron of the 2014 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games in recognition of his public service. Gregory K. Pittman, Q.C. received the 150 faces of Clarenville Award last year for his public service and has been a leader in many community organizations over the years. Joe Twyne is currently the President of the Clarenville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Clarenville. Corwin Mills, Q.C, Gregory Pittman Q.C. and Joseph Twyne have all served as President of the Chamber and were on the executive for many years. The firm has been a member of the Chamber since it was started.

In addition to the volunteer time, the firm has been a huge supporter of the community financially as well, and is a regular sponsor of many community groups such as Clarenville Minor Hockey, Figure Skating, Kiwanis, Rotary Club, Clarenville Caribous, White Hills, Clarenville Nordic Ski Club, Arts Under the Stars, Ducks Unlimited, Clarenville High School Scholarship fund, Heritage Collegiate College Fund, College of the North Atlantic Scholarship fund, GB Cross Hospital Golf Tournament, Clarenville Days Committee, Clarenville Wintertainment Committee, Power to Hope, Salvation Army, 2014 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games Committee, just to name a few.
